Pictures can say 1,000 words...
Life at Pittsburg State University is never that boring... Friends are always around and campus always has something going on. I love this campus and wouldn't change anything for the world!

No, it's not Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, It's here in Pittsburg, KS!

Wanna know the really awesome thing about that picture up there, besides the fact that it has me and my roomie, Sarah, in it? We're both wearing tank tops!! Yeah, so we had on light jackets, but that's beside the point. Right now, I'm sitting in my room, window open, and in a tank top. It makes me happy. It's a glorious 76 here today... and I couldn't be happier. That coupled with the possibility of storms later on make Stacey a happy camper.

Nothing much has been goingon since the end of break. Getting use to classes again... thinking about the classes I need to take during the summer and deciding my schedule for the fall... I think enrollment is next week or something like that. I know exactly what I'm doing for the summer.

I'm doing 9 hours this summer. One of the classes doesn't go towards my degree, I think, but I really want to take it. It may sound morbid, but it's called 'Death and Dying'. Unfortunatly something I've had too much experience with. The other classes that I have to take that are only offered during the summer are 'Psychology and the Law' and 'Criminal Psychopathology'. Those run Mon - Thurs. My death class runs throughout the summer while the other two are one one session each, respectively. I'm also going to be doing Pitt CARES on Fridays only, because Jon (the one incharge of it) believes that on Mondays I'll just be missing too much. That was before I decided to take on the DD class. I was only going to be missing lunch, but ya, I understand where he's coming from.

One of the big things coming up in my life is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. It lasts the entire month of April. The group that I am in Students Against Violence through Education (SAVE) along with the male counterpart, Men against Violence Program (MVP) organize the month to help bring awareness to Sexual Assault. Almost every Wednesday, we're having events in the oval which, if you're on campus, you need to stop by and say 'hey' and learn something new. The schedule is as follows:
  • April 2 - White Ribbon Campaign
  • April 10 - Take Back the Night - This is on a Thursday night. Sponsered by the Woman's Studies Club, SAVE and MVP support their cause and them, and help out and attend.
  • April 16 - Spot the Silence
  • April 23 - Walk a Day in Her Shoes
  • April 30 - Stats and Dogs
These are all things to help bring awareness to our campus and community about sexual assault. It's a busy month, but totally worth it. You should check out our organization, it's a ton of fun!

Btw, if you're a marching band kid, We found out our drum majors last week. I'm really excited because two of my friends are going to be DMs! Patty and Ashley. Yay for them!!

Ok, well I think I'm out of things to talk about, strangely enough, because usually I can babble on for hours on end.

Later, Loves!

So I'm back at Pitt and glad of it, actually. My roomie was around for about 2 hours before leaving to see her fiancee and then Rockie and her boyfriend, Andrew, showed up. I love these kids, they're awesome. Poor Rock just got her wisdom teeth out on Friday and is still really tired, so I think she's going to bed soon. Andrew, however, seems quite comfortable on my couch.

Spring break was quite uneventful, I must say... sleep, cuddle with my dog, sleep, talk to my sister, sleep some more... I hopefully got caught up on my sleep, but didn't really get anything accomplished.

A friend of mine's dad had a minor heart attack this last week. Scary, but everything's ok now and he back home, but Justin still says it was the scariest thing he's ever been through. I've kinda gone through the same thing, so I understand where he's coming from. I'm just glad that everyone is ok.

So I pretty much can't wait for my birthday. I turn 21 on May 8th then my sister graduates from college on the 9th and 10th. Then I get tom come back here and take finals, but thats beside the point.

Oh yes. And like I promised, pictures from my visit to Baker...

An archway at one of the entrances on their campus

Sarah... the evil sarah. A good friend from High School. Hmm... Sorry I didn't rotate it before I put it on here. lol... now I'm just too lazy to go back, rotate it, and upload it again. =)

I told you I fit in one of their lockers!!!

Oh, and just so you know, I'm taller than a penguin!

Lovely day, reporting from Spring break in my room at home in cozy Olathe, KS. I'm actually suppose to be cleaning it, but I have been for the past hour and am now distracted. I have wayy too many clothes! Good news though, a good almost 1/3 of my room looks good so far! =)

I went and visited a friend at Baker last night, that was fun. It's only like, a 30 minute drive and worth it! I haven't seen Sarah in ages. I actually took pictures too, not that you'd know it because my camera is downstairs and I'm not gonna lie, I don't really want to go get it. haha. Just some pictures of the campus at night, sarah and her violin, me in one of the music lockers, etc. nothing much. lol.

Other than that, my break has been what I thought it would be: Sleeping and being a pillow for my mini dachshund, Max. I'll have to get a pic up of me and him. He's too freaking adorable! He's about 10 1/2 now... getting kinda old and his knees have been bothering him lately. We have all been chipping in and carrying him around lately, esp up and down stairs. Its hard though because he usually just bolts off and we can't catch him. It's probably coming back to bite him in the butt though... Dachshunds are prone to knee and back problems, I do believe. =(

My life is pretty boring up here. Thats one reason why I don't come back too much - all my high school friends went off to colleges everywhere and we grew apart so now everyone I'm close to is spread all over Kansas (and other places, depending on where they're currently spring breaking it up). It's worth it when you get back to school but on breaks and such, it's lonely. I have my sister and mom... sarah a 1/2 hour away... I'm not a big fan of Lawrence/KU so I don't really like going up there... so ya. lovely, no?

I can't believe it's half way through March already. Just yesterday it was the beginning of Feb and my family was burying yet another family member. Feb went pretty quickly.

IT IS A GORGEOUS DAY OUTSIDE AND I'M STUCK IN HERE!

Sorry.. had to get that out. It is currently 56 degrees outside and I want to enjoy it. Doing what, who knows, but I want to be outside!

Ok well I've taken about a 1/2 hour break now, so I'd better get back to working.

Later, loves!!

So, ladies and gentlemen, reading this blog. I have a diagnosis for my computer.

The motherboard is SHOT.

Ya. It was only 3 years old too. It makes me sad. On the bright side, I am now the owner of a new external harddrive (It has everything from my old comp on it now... they transfered it over) and a new (but thankfull cheap) laptop. My mom was amazing and got it for me because with midterms coming up along with everyting else going on in my life, she knows a computer that is easily accessable is important. Its a cute little toshiba. Ya... now I just have to contact ResNet to tell them I got a new comp so I can access the internet from the dorms and whatnot. They don't make this very easy.

So, Gorilla Geeks, while mainly still good guys, weren't able to fix my problem with this. They had it for 3 days, never called me, and then told me 'it's either the power supply or the mother board.'. My mom came down this weekend, traded me my tower for the new laptop and took it to Best Buy. Within a couple hours, they knew it was the motherboard and were helping her figure out what to do. Thank you Geek Squad in Best Buy. Spring break might be full of possible computer shopping and all sorts of fun things like that. yay.

Speaking of SB, I can't wait. I need to catch up on sleep and I need free time where I don't have meetings I must attend to or classes. I will be able to cuddle up with my mini dachshund and sit on my butt all day if I want to (not that I will, but it's good to have the choice!). It'll also be good to see my mom and sister. I haven't seen Nikki since Feb 5th (long story short, it was my grandpa's funeral that brought her back into town, same with me.

I figured out my summer schedule finally!!! I get to do CARES (which I'm really excited about because it's a lot of fun!) and I'm taking two summer classes (So techinically a full time student with 6 hours). I'm taking Psychology and the Law for the first session and the second session is Criminal Psychopathology. It'll be fun... lol. I was going to take a class called Death & Dying, but the hours wouldn't work with CARES and last time someone in our family took it, a person died. Talk about irony. I figured since I don't have a husband yet and all of the male people in my close family are all gone, I shouldn't have a problem with it, but just in case... lol. Maybe I'll talk to Julie (my advisor and the prof for that class) and see what she thinks. I wouldn't be there for 4 Mondays in June, but it's just one hour each day. We'll see.

It's going to be lonely down here this summer. This town literally empties when summer rolls around. Of course there will be other summer students and everything, but ya. I'm def getting a job to keep my busy so I'm not just sitting around twiddling my thumbs!

My schedule this week:
  • Monday - Classes at 10, 11, 1, & 2, meeting (I think) at 3:30, class at 4:30 - 7:30. Study. Sometime in there call housing and ask about registering new computer.
  • Tuesday - Class at 11, my OH at 1, Selection at 4-6:30 or so (missing 2 classes, but the profs are ok with this) with student ambassadors, and possibly preforming with my sisters in SAI for an American Music Recital being put on by Phi Mu Alpha.
  • Wednesday - Classes again, a quiz in Abnormal Psych. yay. Selection again for student ambassadors. early night. Study.
  • Thurday - Final for Lifetime Fitness Concepts at 11. study study study, midterm for Crime Scene and Law of Evidence class. Thank the lord that it is finally over.
  • Friday - No 10 o'clock class, but yes for the rest of them. leave to go home. YAY FOR SPRING BREAK!!!!
Oh man. I'm pretty excited about it. haha. It's a crazy week but it go go go until the very end. then it's nice to know you have relax time... until you suddenly realize you have a major paper due May 1st and a huge project due April 25. Yeah... it's all good. Tis the life of a college student!

Ok, so I just looked down and realized that it's like, 10:20. When I last looked at the time, it was about an hour ago. Look at how typing and facebook passes the time. haha.

Oh yeah! I almost forgot! We had Jr Jungle Day on Sat. That was a ton of fun, actually. I helped out all day, starting with directing people where to go outside of Grubbs, went to helping show people where to go between presentations, and ending with giving tours to the awesomly cool people. The funny part about my tour on Sat was that both kids were from Andover Central. Joe and Tyler, I do believe were their names. They actually talked back to me and their families were enjoyable too. I did have two other girls in my group but they left us at lunch. =( It was all good though because I had fun and I hope Joe, his dad, and Tyler and his family all had fun. I try to be entertaining!

Well, the library closes in a 1/2 hour so I'd probably wrap this up so I won't be rushed later on.

Later, Loves!

Bored and in the U-Club. It's fun down here. Very much like a coffee shop but I think the music may be better. More up to date and less Indie. I love my coffee shops, don't get me wrong, it's great when you want calming music, but sometimes you have to be in the mood for it. The good part about this is that I get to smell the coffee being made (O, the song Big yellow Taxi by Counting Crows just came on! I LOVE this song!) and it's making me want coffee. A mocha does sound good right now...

**leaves to go get one**

Mmm. You guys should really come here to Jazzman's cafe down here. No, it doesn't only serve coffee (Although it's Seattle's Best... yummy) but it also has baked goods and right next to it (You order at one register) it has a Freshens which has pretzels, ice cream, and some AMAZING smoothies.

Anyways, this week has been dorm signups. Everyone here gets the chance to sign up for a room they want. The first night it was open door from like, 6-10 so people from other dorms could come and see what another was like. Personally I went to check out Willard. A friend of mine is going to be an RA there and I'm thinking about going there with her. It's me and possibly two other girls (Rockie and Sarah) that went. My other friend Megan is looking off campus now. As a soon-to-be senior, I think she should live off campus. As a soon-to-be senior myself, I'm content living in the dorms for right now. It's right across the street from the main buildings I'm in and it's handy.

A lot of people, when on tours, ask me which dorms I think are the best. I have a major bias. I've lived on the south campus for my entire time here. I love my dorms. HOWEVER, if you ask someone who has spent their entire time on north campus, they will probably say that the north side is better. There's pros and cons to each side. South side (SOUTHSIDE!!! ...Sorry, I'm from Olathe South... it's a habit) is closer to Whitesitt, McCray, the FACS (Family and Consumer Sciences) building, and Russ. North side is closer to Grubbs, Heckert-Wells, the student center (so I think), McPherson (nursing), the Axe Library, and of course, the Weede (our Rec center till the new one opens next fall, not what the majority of you guys are thinking!!). I basically think that it's all about your major. If I were an English major, I'd be over on North campus because it'd be closer for me in the mornings. I also roll out of bed kinda late. Haha, I'm not going to lie, I got up at 10:50 today for my 11:00 class. It was amazing. not to mention not that uncommon for college students.

Student Ambassador selections are coming up. I'm actually on the selection committee so I'll be working with the people applying. I think that it'll be fun. I love ambassadors. Seriously? It's awesome to be able to put my wonderful ability of talking to use in a good way. I learn about the university and talk to prospective students at the same time!

The summer schedule comes out tomorrow. I have to take summer classes (figures) so I get to figure out when they are offered and HOPEFULLY will also be able to do CARES. Pitt CARES (Campus Advisement, Registration, and Enrollment Services) is during the summer where new incoming students start getting acclimated to the university. I love helping out because once again, I get to talk to people and also get to put on silly skits for people which usually end up not getting a laugh from anyone other than the other CARES leaders because we all have silly memories of practice or previous times performing. So, if you're reading this and you see us perform, laugh. it'll make us feel better. =)

Ok, well I'm off to check the major tool of procrastination for a college student, Facebook.

Later Loves!!

Ya, so here I am *at the library* to update for everyone. Amazing as it might sound, I'm here on a Wednesday night because I'm bored. TV can only do so much for my wandering mind and as you know (if you've been reading the previous posts, which I doubt) my computer decided to throw a fit and is now over at the Gorilla Geeks to get fixed. I took it in Tuesday around 3. lets all see how long it takes for them to figure out whats wrong with it, fix it, and then call me. Yes, I think I'll time. ;)

I've decided that this computer at the library was a bad choice for me as it is right underneath a fan. It's blowing cold air. I've got the 'wind in the hair' look goin' on right now, which I'm betting is very picturesque, but as it is around 37 degrees outside, I don't think we need a fan bowling cold air right now. Seriously? lol.

I really kinda can't wait for Spring Break. It's in a week and a half and everyone is getting spring fever. you see this zoned out expression on people's faces in every class. It's kinda amusing sometimes but at other times it sucks because you know you're the one with that look on your face and you really should be paying attention. I'm not doing anything really grand over break and I'll be working on both a project over OJ Simpson and a 8-10 page paper which will hopefully be over forensics in the law enforcement area. Loads of fun, let me tell you. Alright kids, I think I'm going to be heading back home to my room so I can dethaw. I'm so cold my fingernails are blue!! Oh... no... wait, I painted them that color before dinner. minor detail. =)

Later loves!
